Hello

Hello, I'm Ellen Dawe; and I believe Scotland is best experienced off the beaten path.  My passion for Scotland comes from my ancestral roots, a lifelong love of its history, landscapes and traditions and the incredible food!   

 

Scotland is my "happy place" and I would love to share it with you!  I own a bakery in northeast Georgia (FarmHouse PoundCakes) where I have tried to create an atmosphere that when you walk through the door, you feel like you are entering a wee cafe in Scotland.  You'll hear music playing by Julie Fowlis, Bruce MacGregor, Runrig, Tidelines, Beluga Lagoon and so many more!

 

I collaborate with bakers and chefs when I travel to "the motherland" and offer some of their bakes in my shop (think Clare Coghill, Coinneach Macleod, Sarah Rankin, etc)  We offer Cream Teas as one of my favorite treats is a proper scone with clotted cream and jam (I make my own!)  I also support small women owned businesses in the Highlands and happily sell their products here in Georgia.  (I even landed in an exhibit at a museum in Halkirk for International collaboration with Erin Shearsmith of Caithness Aromatics!).

I'm currently working on a book featuring my travels "off the beaten path" and sharing the amazing makers and bakers I have had the privilege to meet and now proudly call friends.
